Also in the meanwhile,

...I participated in my first culinary competition! It was called L'Apprenti étudiant en boulangerie 2012. Over 2 days, I had to make the following: croissants, chocolatines, traditional French baguettes, decorative French baguettes, and a free-expression bread and brioche. Here are a few pictures taken by my teacher, François Tachon. Merci chef!

Rolling my croissants

Checking my brioche!

Apple spiced bread

French brioche filled with goat's milk Brie and strawberries- mmm :)

My finished croissants! The judges liked my croissants the best ;)

Finished chocolatines, so flakey and round and cuuuute!

Traditional French baguettes

Decorative French baguettes, sprinkled with black and white sesame

Congratulations to all the winners! I am so excited to be going to France
in the fall as part of my prize! I will be attending a boulangerie/ pâtisserie
conference in Aurillac- can't wait!!!

It's been so long since my last post- I apologize! I've been super busy, and with this post, you'll see why.

Oh, and...

I received a last minute order for a Sweet 16 cake last weekend. I was told the party was going to be small- only 50 people! Hahah I took on the order anyways and created this lovely One Direction-themed birthday cake, along with 50 mini cupcakes :)

Cake for 50 people- bottom tier is dark chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream, top tier
is vanilla cake with vanilla bean buttercream, and mini cupcakes to match

All photo credit goes to Carolyn Chin :) Thanks little sis!

I had another last minute order this week, plus the wedding cake that has been planned since forever! I'll have the pics up by next week. Thanks for checking out my cakes :)
